A sovereign, EU-hosted alternative for AI agents
Agents like ChatGPT Agent (formerly Operator) are hosted in the US. Le Bureau is the sovereign alternative: cloud desktops hosted in Europe, GDPR-aligned.
Agents that drive a computer for you are multiplying. ChatGPT Agent (which absorbed Operator), Gemini, and the other US computer-use agents are powerful, but they share one thing: your data and the agent's actions run through infrastructure hosted in the United States. For many European teams, that single detail decides everything.
The sovereignty problem
A computer-use agent does not just read a prompt. It logs into your accounts, opens your files, clicks through your business tools, and acts on your behalf. All of that produces data, and where that data is processed and stored matters. For a firm, a regulated SMB, a public-sector body, or a healthcare team, sending that flow to US infrastructure is often a flat no: GDPR, professional confidentiality, data-residency requirements, or simply the wish to stay in control.
US consumer agents do not offer an answer to that. They are hosted where they are hosted, on a single model, and you have no say over where the processing happens.
The sovereign alternative
Le Bureau gives each AI agent its own dedicated cloud desktop, hosted in Europe. Data is resident in the EU and the whole platform is aligned with GDPR. It is a real full desktop, with a browser, terminal, editor, and file system, streamed to your browser, and you can watch the agent work in real time.
Three differences matter for a European team:
- Hosted in Europe. Processing and storage stay in the EU, with no default transfer to infrastructure outside the region.
- Your own model. Bring your own AI provider key, or use a managed model. You are not locked into one vendor's agent.
- Isolation per agent. Each agent runs in its own isolated virtual machine, separate from every other.
Side by side
| US agents (ChatGPT Agent, ex-Operator) | Le Bureau | |
|---|---|---|
| Hosting | United States | Europe, data in the EU |
| GDPR compliance | To verify | Aligned by design |
| Model | The vendor's | Your key or managed |
| Persistent full desktop | Varies | Yes, persistent disk |
| Isolation per agent | Opaque | Dedicated VM per agent |
| Best for | Consumer use | European teams and regulated sectors |
How to choose
If you are an individual in the US and data residency is not a concern, a US consumer agent does the job.
If you are a European team, a firm, a regulated SMB, or a public-sector body, and your data must not leave the EU, you need an agent hosted where your rules apply. Le Bureau gives you the same real desktop for your agents while keeping the processing in Europe and the choice of model in your hands.
